The
United States government has created the Home Affordable Refinance
Program or HARP refinance program to assist home owners who have
maintained their monthly mortgage payments even if their house is
underwater.
Irvine, California, (TBD) – Over the last
several years homeowners across the country have watched as their home
values have dropped by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Many of these
people abandoned their homes while others have stood strong on the face
of adversity. For the home owners who honored their commitments there
wasn’t much help available until the Home Affordable Refinance Program was created by President Obama.
Thanks to the Obama refinancing plan
people who have stood by their sinking homes can get help by applying
for a government program called Home Affordable Refinance Program. The HARP program is designed to help people who have houses valued less than their mortgage and who are current on their payments.
In order to qualify for the HARP program a
home owner will need to have a mortgage serviced by either Freddie Mac
or Fannie Mae that was originated before May 31, 2009. The HARP loans are only available to people who have a good history of payments and are current on their recent payments.
The Obama refinancing
plan will not require the home owner to have their house appraised. The
values will be determined by a number of factors relative to the area
where the home is located. The Obama refinancing plan is available for
all property types including condos, single family homes, and
multi-family homes.
